Closet Space

Our good friends Joe and Karen Swingle were kind enough to let us go through their precious daughter, Grayson's old clothes this weekend.  Grayson is about to turn two, so I got sent home with 4 tubs full of cute baby clothes!  Problem was, I didn't exactly have anywhere to put them, and I realized that I have no idea how to organize a baby closet.  As it turns out, baby hangers are a hot commodity (couldn't find them at Target, Lowe's or either of the two Wal-Marts in town).  I was able to find lots of baskets though as well as a clear over the door shoe hanger (perfect for hair bows!).  The baskets don't have labels, but I found some tiny little clothespins (so stinkin cute!) so I can make my own and attach them to the front of each basket.  I'll post pictures soon, but my iPhone just didn't want to do the trick tonight in the dark closet.

Halfway There!

Yesterday was my 20 week mark, so I am finally halfway there!  Hopefully the second half will be easier than the first.  I don't know if my patience will hold up that long.

I spent last night making paper pom poms, and I think they turned out pretty cute!  Once we've painted the ceiling, I'll figure out how the heck to hang them.

And we've decided on a paint color.  I'm going to Sherwin Williams today to pick up a gallon of Embellished Blue.  I think it will be the perfect soft aqua shade.

Rockin

Today was so exciting!  I got a call yesterday that our recliner came in, so Rea and I made the drive to The Baby's Room in Rogers to pick it up.  And her sweet husband Budd and his friend Davie were kind enough to haul it up my stairs and into the nursery.  I LOVE this chair!  It is so soft and comfy and I can't wait to spend lots of time rocking and reading in it.  It's going to look even better once the walls are painted!

And I couldn't pass up this adorable lamb while we were in the store.  Little girl is going to love it.  And when I picked it up to buy it (after mulling around for quite awhile trying to decide if I should get it), I heard a lady say to her husband, "See, and now it's gone!".  Score for me!

Tonight I'm playing around with some tissue paper to test my paper pom pom lantern skills and tomorrow I'll be heading to Sherwin Williams to pick up paint.  more updates to come soon!

Ultrasound Day

Yesterday was my final ultrasound.  I have been so lucky to have had 4 in the first 20 weeks, and I don't know how I'll make it 20 more without one!  The tech had a little trouble getting all of the pictures she needed because little one's back was facing up, but she eventually wiggled enough that we got a peak at everything.  Luckily, our she is for sure still a she.  It was tough to get a lot of good pictures because she was moving around so much (just like always), but this is probably the best one.  Still a little creepy!  But she should be getting some fat on her soon and start looking more like a cute little baby.

Artsy

This is going to look great on the wall of our little lady's nursery!  I've always loved this song and the yellow will be a great pop of color.  Thanks to GoJumpInTheLake on etsy for this great find!

Progress

Today was probably the most productive day I've had since I found out I was pregnant.  And it was awesome!  When I woke up, I vacuumed and cleaned the bathrooms and kitchen.  Then I had a lovely lunch at Hog Haus with my brother and Courtney before going to Wal-Mart for groceries.  When I got home, I started my first of SIX loads of laundry and did the dishes.  I've been wanting to clean my car for ages and finally knocked that out, too!  I have a major hate hate relationship with our carpeted stairs.  You would think they are magnetic the way dog hair sticks to them, so I worked on those for awhile and they look SO much better.  I took a lint roller to the couch, and then took a break.  Pretty soon, Jason came home from working at the baseball game and we rushed off to our storage unit with a load of furniture (So thankful that Jason got the nursery all cleaned out and moved the furniture into our garage so I could work on the nursery).  To cap off the evening, Jason grilled some yummy burgers.  What a great day!

Nursery In Progress

Funny how things change.  Prior to finding out we were having a girl, I had picked this as my nursery inspiration courtesy of Pinterest
But then I found this on Etsy from LittleCharlieMay and I couldn't resist.  I ordered it without the bumper, changed the order of the ruffles on the skirt, and got aqua blue minky instead of pink on the blanket.  She's also making a pillow to match.  It will be a long 8-12 weeks for someone as impatient as me!  Luckily, the seller was great and sent me swatches to tide me over in the mean time.

Once I found the bedding, the ball really got rolling.  I went on a bit of a shopping spree!

DaVinci Jenny Lind Crib

Awesome vintage table from Rifraff and cute leaning bookshelf from Target
Can't wait to sit in this comfy recliner from The Baby's Room.  It is part of the Best Chairs Storytime Series and is heavenly!

Found this amazing dresser at a vintage shop in Prairie Grove

Samson loves the rug I found at Shades of Light

Next we plan on painting the room a light aqua color.  I'm just trying to figure out what to do for a light fixture (ceiling fan or cute chandelier) and window treatments.  Here are some of my ideas
Great Capiz Shell pendant from West Elm

Land of Nod curtains (love the ruffles!) or this simple valance from Pinterest

And I'm thinking something like this hanging over the crib - so sweet!  Maybe not quite so many, but I love the idea and my brother's girlfriend, Courtney, even volunteered to help me make them.

Decisions, decisions!

History Lesson

A little background on how we got to this point...

  • August 7, 2010: Goin to the chapel

  • November 16, 2011: Shocked to find out that our family will be growing! "Do you think our baby will have red hair?"

  • December 23, 2011: Baby's first picture
  • January 20, 2012: Little one didn't want to hold still so that Dr. Collins could find a heartbeat, so we got a bonus ultrasound!

  • February 6, 2012: There's no way I could be patient enough to wait and find out our kiddo's gender, so we went to Joplin 3D/4D Imaging for a sneak peek.
She's a fighter!

Don't Samson & Cocoa look SO excited to be getting a sister
